Divi Website Redesign & Migration for Cohen Canarias
Industries
🎯 The Challenge
Marcio Cohen contacted me in May 2025 about cohencanarias.com, a Divi site he had built himself. His brief was specific rather than cosmetic: he wanted a responsive, optimised and functional design that performed well above all on mobile devices. The desktop view was serviceable; the mobile experience was not.
A second constraint shaped the entire approach. Marcio sent villageremedies.com as a visual reference, which is an Elementor build. When I proposed switching the site from Divi to Elementor, he declined — he already knew Divi and wanted to keep the ability to update his own site later. He also made clear he did not want the reference copied, and specifically disliked its blue and pink palette. So the reference could guide structure only.
The third challenge was purely logistical. The order was placed on 23 May 2025 with a 14-day delivery window, but website logins did not arrive for weeks despite repeated follow-ups. When access did come, it was protected by a one-time passcode that expired after 15 minutes — a very narrow window given the time difference between Pakistan and the Canary Islands.
💡 Our Solution
I scoped the work as a redesign inside the client's existing Divi installation rather than a rebuild on a new stack. That decision was driven entirely by the client's maintainability requirement, and it was the right call.
The build covered a full rework of the module designs, a rebuilt header, and a footer restructured with widgets added and removed as needed. The Home page and the Equipo (Team) page were the two layouts delivered. Responsive behaviour drove the layout decisions from the start rather than being retrofitted, since mobile was the explicit priority in the brief.
The reference site was used to establish structural direction only. Colour and identity were kept away from it, per Marcio's request that the design not be a copy.
On the access side, I extended the order duration transparently rather than delivering something unfinished, and coordinated directly with Marcio until we hit a live 15-minute window for the OTP. Once inside, I completed the build and then arranged a second short window to obtain hosting access for the migration. The finished site was transferred to the client's live hosting and went live at cohencanarias.com on 23 July 2025.
🏆 The Result
The redesigned Divi site was delivered and transferred successfully on 23 July 2025. Marcio confirmed it the same night: "That's great Tallha, thank you!!!" The order was accepted within minutes of delivery, and no revision rounds were requested from the five included.
The client retained full editing control of his own site — the outcome he had prioritised from the first conversation. His earlier note set the tone for the whole engagement: "I prefer to wait a bit more and have a good website than do things in a hurry."
