🎯 The Challenge
Noob Pugs, a Team Fortress 2 pick-up-games community, needed a striking single landing page that introduced the community and funnelled every visitor straight to Discord. The brief was aesthetically demanding: a solid black background throughout, transparent PNG character artwork arranged artistically with no white boxes, bold white headings, light-gray body copy, and a Discord button in exact TF2-red.
The constraints were significant. Hosting was on Elementor's cloud platform, so all work had to happen inside Elementor Pro. The initial deadline was extremely tight — barely a day — and access to the site was delayed when the editor invite failed to arrive on the first two attempts.
Later, the scope grew. The client wanted an events listing page and dynamic tournament-detail pages with auto-updating double-elimination brackets, which sat far outside the original single-page build and needed a clear, honest scoping conversation.
💡 Our Solution
I built the entire landing page as one Elementor Pro template, matching the client's exact section list: a hero with a centered heading, Discord embed, and red CTA; alternating "About" text-and-image blocks; a full-width visual breather; and a closing call to action. Transparent PNGs were layered with positioning and opacity controls to preserve the gallery feel, and the layout stacked vertically on mobile for readability.
When the original deadline became unrealistic, I requested a one-day extension rather than shipping rushed work — the client agreed immediately. I flagged low-resolution and small WebP image assets openly instead of upscaling and degrading quality, and the client opted to swap images himself.
For the expansion, I built a matching black-themed Events Listing page pulling tournaments from the CyberPress plugin. The fully dynamic per-event bracket pages were honestly scoped as a premium-tier build, and I delivered the agreed work plus a top-right "Events" menu link connecting both pages.
🏆 The Result
The client received a cohesive, responsive two-page site true to the community's dark, artistic identity — a Discord-focused landing page and a matching CyberPress events hub. He closed the project satisfied and left a full 5-star review across communication, quality, and value, saying simply: "I enjoyed the end product." As a new Fiverr buyer, that review carried extra weight, earned through transparent communication and honest deadline and scope management rather than overpromising.
