WordPress Membership Course Site — English Lessons CA
Industries
🎯 The Challenge
A Canada-based English language course creator needed a complete WordPress membership website with monthly and yearly subscription plans, protected video lessons organised into modules, a user dashboard for course navigation, Stripe or PayPal payment integration, a homepage placement test with ten multiple choice questions and instant Beginner or Intermediate results, and two free preview lessons accessible without a subscription. The client had most videos recorded but not all, and the course structure and lesson breakdown were not yet fully finalised at the time of commissioning. The project was scoped at $780 USD across three milestones — $350 for Milestone 1 (homepage, membership system, login), $300 for Milestone 2 (course structure, video integration, protected content), and $130 for Milestone 3 (payment integration, testing, handover).
💡 Our Solution
Built Milestone 1 using WordPress, MemberPress for subscription and content protection, Elementor for page design, and Vimeo for secure domain-restricted video hosting. Delivered a full homepage with a custom Why Choose Us section highlighting the client's five course pillars — real-life conversations, speaking from day one, learning by topic, multiple accents, and practice at your level. Monthly and yearly subscription plan pricing section, placeholder video section, and orange CTA button on blue background built per client specification. Testimonial section removed per client request. Temporary logo applied throughout. Core pages built: About Us, Contact Us, Account, and Login. MemberPress configured with user registration, login, and subscription plans. Login button issue resolved following client testing. Full video walkthrough recorded demonstrating complete user flow — signup, subscribe, login, and access to restricted content. Client reviewed, confirmed satisfaction, and approved Milestone 1.
🏆 The Result
Milestone 1 delivered and approved — homepage, core pages, membership system, and working user flow all confirmed by the client. The project did not proceed to Milestone 2. After approving Milestone 1, the client cancelled the order as the course video content and lesson structure were not yet ready to hand over for integration. Milestone 2 payment of $300 was not charged. The project is an honest case study in content readiness — a membership course website cannot be completed without all videos uploaded and the lesson breakdown finalised before development begins. The key learning applied to all subsequent course and membership projects: content handover requirements are now written into the contract as a gate between Milestone 1 and Milestone 2.
