Online GCSE Maths Tutoring Website With Booking & Payments
Industries
🎯 The Challenge
Johanna wanted to move her Edexcel GCSE Higher Maths tutoring business fully online, but she had no technical background at all — no domain, no hosting, and no experience with WordPress. In her own words, she had "zero expertise in this area." So the project was never just a build; it was a guided setup where every step had to be explained in plain language.
The brief asked for a group-booking calendar for 5 to 20 students with reminders and payment integration. In practice, her real selling model was far simpler than the brief, which only became clear once she saw the first version live. On top of that, she had a fixed payment date and two unavoidable delays — Eid holidays and a family emergency — which the timeline had to absorb without breaking trust.
💡 Our Solution
I scoped the project at $420 with a realistic delivery window and added beginner guidance that wasn't in the original brief. I pointed Johanna to Namecheap for her domain and EasyWP Turbo for managed WordPress hosting, then connected the domain, installed WordPress, and set up SSL for her.
I designed six pages (Home, About, Classes, Booking, Testimonials, Contact) using Elementor and Divi, keeping the look neat and minimalist to match her reference site. I built the Classes page to show all 24 session names and learning outcomes, added a homework section, integrated Zoom for live classes, and set up course packages with Klarna instalment payments.
The booking system was the key decision point. My first weekly-calendar build was accurate to the brief but confused her — "the booking page is just way too confusing." I pivoted to a one-off purchase, then to a simple prices-and-enquiry model that matched how she actually sold via private invoices. Reworking the checkout flow meant rebuilding functionality underneath, which I explained clearly and completed.
🏆 The Result
The website went live at joteaches.co.uk as a clean, responsive site with Zoom-linked classes, course packages, testimonials, homework, and SEO groundwork. When Fiverr auto-completed the order on its timer, I stayed fully responsible and continued making every requested change afterward. Johanna left a 5-star review: "Tallha was amazing to work with... He went above and beyond with the website I requested and continued to help me with updates and changes even after the order was complete. I will never look anywhere else for coding/web design help." She returned weeks later with new ideas, confirming an ongoing working relationship.
