You have a cleaning business running on a ten-year-old HTML website you cannot edit yourself. You want it rebuilt in WordPress, modernised, and ranking locally so clients can find you. Then your business moves to a new state — and you need the whole site updated again. Then it moves again. That is the two-year journey of Lighthouse Cleaning LLC, a commercial and Airbnb cleaning service that went from Colorado to Georgia to Tennessee with a WordPress cleaning business website that needed to follow every step of the way. This post covers the original HTML to WordPress rebuild, the local SEO work, the ongoing maintenance, and what any service business owner needs to understand about managing a WordPress site through business changes.

The Client and the Problem

Who They Were

Lighthouse Cleaning LLC (lighthousecleaningllc.com) is a commercial office and Airbnb vacation rental cleaning service founded in 2013 by V. Plowman, an Air Force veteran, in Longmont, Colorado. The business served the Longmont and Boulder County area, offering customisable commercial cleaning for offices, medical facilities, churches, retail spaces, and short-term rental properties. The owner managed the business personally with a strong emphasis on direct communication and flexible service.

What Was Not Working

The existing website was a static HTML site — not built on WordPress, not editable by the client, and significantly outdated in both visual design and technical structure. No content management system was in place, meaning every text or image change required a developer. The site had no contact form routing to a business email, no local SEO configuration for the Longmont and Boulder area, and no mobile optimisation for visitors on phones.

The client's brief was clear: rebuild in WordPress, modernise the look, keep it simple across four pages — Home, Commercial, Airbnb, and About — add a working quote request form, and build in local SEO for the Longmont and Boulder area. Budget: $120. Timeline: four days. This kind of HTML to WordPress conversion is one of the most common projects I handle — and the constraints are exactly where clear scoping matters most. It is part of my WordPress website design and development services at CodeSyte.

What I Proposed

$120 Fixed, 4 Days — Then Expanded to $220

After reviewing the existing site and confirming the four-page scope, the project was quoted at $120 with four-day delivery. As the project progressed and design iterations expanded — the client selected a new Elementor template from a curated library, went through multiple rounds of photography, colour, typography, and content refinements — the scope grew naturally. The budget was increased to $220 by mutual agreement to reflect the additional work, including a logo redesign coordinated with a graphic designer at no additional cost to the client.

The tool stack was WordPress with Elementor Pro, an interior design template from Envato Elements adapted for a cleaning service context, and WPForms for the quote request form routed to the business email. Bluehost was the client's hosting provider. Local SEO was implemented using a WordPress SEO plugin with page-level titles, meta descriptions, and focus keywords targeting the Longmont and Boulder County area.

The Build Process

Template Selection and Design Direction

The first build attempt — a custom layout built from scratch — did not match the client's visual expectations. Rather than continue iterating on an approach that was not landing, the decision was made to let the client browse a curated template library and choose a starting point that resonated with her vision. She selected an interior design template with an elegant, sophisticated aesthetic — layered blues, warm typography, and a sense of refinement that matched the brand she was building for Lighthouse Cleaning.

This was the right call. The template gave both sides a shared visual reference, which eliminated the back-and-forth of translating abstract preferences into design decisions. All subsequent changes — colour adjustments, photo selection, typography, layout tweaks — were made within a framework both parties could see and agree on. This is a principle I apply on any Elementor website design project at CodeSyte: when a client has strong visual preferences but limited design vocabulary, a template selection process produces better outcomes than building from scratch.

Logo Redesign and Brand Assets

The original Lighthouse Cleaning logo needed colour adjustments to work with the new site palette. The client wanted baby blue on the wave element and pink on the sun, with white birds and a white lighthouse outline. This was graphic design work outside the standard WordPress development scope — but rather than leave the client without a solution, the work was coordinated with a graphic designer and delivered as part of the project. The updated logo was applied across all pages, the favicon, and the site header.

Contact Form, SMTP, and Quote Request Setup

A quote request form was built using WPForms and configured to route all submissions to the business email at Ginger@lighthousecleaningllc.com. WordPress's default PHP mail function was not reliable on the Bluehost environment — a common issue across managed hosting — so WP Mail SMTP was configured to ensure reliable email delivery. The form included name, phone, email, service type, and message fields, with a reCAPTCHA added later to reduce spam submissions.

Transactional email reliability is one of the most frequently overlooked aspects of a service business WordPress site. A quote form that does not deliver submissions is a direct revenue loss — every undelivered enquiry is a potential client who received no response. Configuring SMTP correctly from the start is part of every WordPress website completion project at CodeSyte.

Local SEO — Colorado, Then Georgia, Then Tennessee

The original build included local SEO targeting Longmont and Boulder County, Colorado — page titles, meta descriptions, focus keywords, and location references throughout the content. In June 2025, the client relocated her business to Wilmington Island, Savannah, Georgia, requiring a full location update across all pages, meta settings, the Google Maps embed on the contact page, and all content references to Colorado. The update also included new target areas: Whitemarsh Island, Tybee Island, Oatland Island, and Talahi Island.

In mid-2025, the business relocated again — this time to Chattanooga, Tennessee, serving Hamilton County. Another full location update was completed: content, SEO titles, meta descriptions, map embed, and all geographic references updated from Georgia to Tennessee. Managing location-based SEO across business moves is a legitimate ongoing maintenance requirement for any mobile service business. This is covered under my WordPress maintenance and SEO update services at CodeSyte.

Speed Optimisation

The site experienced recurring page speed issues throughout the engagement — identified first in August 2024 after a period of inactivity, and again in June 2025 after the Tennessee relocation updates. In June 2025, a full speed optimisation was completed: image compression, caching configuration, plugin audit, and elimination of render-blocking resources. The client confirmed the site was loading significantly faster on both laptop and library computers after the optimisation.

Additional Page Additions

Over the course of the engagement, two additional service pages were added outside the original four-page scope: a Move In/Move Out Cleaning Specialists page added in July 2025 to target immediate local enquiries in Georgia, and an Office Cleaning page to create a dedicated page separate from the general Commercial page. Both were built matching the existing Elementor design system and added to the site navigation.

The Result

A Site That Followed the Business Across Two Years and Three States

The Lighthouse Cleaning website went from a static HTML site with no CMS, no working contact form, and no local SEO to a fully managed WordPress site that has been updated, relocated, optimised, and expanded across multiple engagements over more than two years. The total investment across all phases — original rebuild, logo work, form fixes, SMTP configuration, location migrations, new pages, and speed optimisation — amounted to a few hundred dollars spread across a genuine long-term relationship.

The client expressed clear satisfaction at multiple points throughout: "The site looks amazing!" and "It could not be more perfect." When issues arose — slow loading, broken form routing, CAPTCHA blocking legitimate submissions — they were addressed promptly within the ongoing support relationship. When the business moved states, the website moved with it cleanly and completely.

Key Takeaway for Service Business Websites

A WordPress Site Is a Long-Term Asset That Needs Ongoing Care

The Lighthouse Cleaning website was not a one-time project — it was an ongoing partnership that evolved with the business. A static HTML site could not have been updated through two state relocations by the client independently. WordPress gave the client a platform she could ask for small changes on without rebuilding anything from scratch. For any service business that grows, moves, or pivots, having a WordPress site with a trusted developer on hand is significantly more valuable than the cheapest possible one-time build.

Local SEO Is Not a One-Time Setup

A cleaning business that moves from Colorado to Georgia to Tennessee has three completely different local SEO profiles. Keywords, page content, map embeds, meta titles, and service area descriptions all need to change when the geographic target changes. Setting up local SEO at launch is the correct first step — but any service business that operates in a specific area should treat their location-based SEO as a living document that reflects where they are actually operating, not where they started.

The Contact Form Is Your Most Critical Website Feature

For a service business, the contact and quote form is the entire purpose of the website. It is the one feature that directly determines whether the site generates business or not. The Lighthouse Cleaning site had this fail at least twice across the engagement — once due to email routing misconfiguration and once due to CAPTCHA blocking legitimate submissions. Both failures meant real enquiries were not reaching the client. On any service business WordPress site, the contact form must be tested as part of every deployment, and SMTP should be configured from day one to ensure reliable delivery. If you need this set up correctly and maintained, that is exactly what I do at CodeSyte.

Final Thoughts

The Lighthouse Cleaning case study spans two years, three US states, an HTML to WordPress migration, a logo redesign, multiple rounds of local SEO, speed optimisation, new pages, and ongoing form maintenance. It is not the most technically complex project in this portfolio — but it is one of the most instructive, because it shows what a real long-term WordPress support relationship looks like for a small service business.

If you run a cleaning, trade, or service business and need a WordPress website that works, stays updated, and adapts as your business changes — that is exactly what I build and maintain at CodeSyte.
